1) First Aid
A few things have changed and now Safety and Risk Services (aka Risk Management Services) have requested that all faculty, staff and student-staff on UBC’s Vancouver campus can enlist the help of the UBC Occupational First Aid Team by contacting the Occupational First Aid team 24 hours a day at: 604-822-4444 or 2-4444 (UBC landlines) Mobile first aid attendants will be dispatched to your campus location.
In the event of a medical emergency, first call 911 and then call Occupational First Aid.
If you are a student or visitor and you require first aid you should: Attend UBC Student Health Services in the UBC Hospital (Students only).
Go to Urgent Care at the UBC Hospital – 2211 Wesbrook Mall (Open Everyday 8am-10pm)
Call 911 for an ambulance
2) Emergency Meeting Locations
During an emergency evacuation such as a fire alarm, there are 4 emergency meeting locations for the Biological Sciences Building and both the Beaty Biodiversity Centre and Museum occupants:
these include:
1 - next to the UBC Bookstore/roundabout
2 - open area in between Biological Sciences, Michael Smith, and Food and Nutrition Building
3 - next to the water fountain on Main Mall
4 - in front of the Beaty Biodiversity Museum on Main Mall
During an emergency evacuation, please make sure you proceed to the NEAREST emergency meeting location and wait until the alarm has been turned off before re-entry.
Please do not wait around the entrances of the building during the alarm.
